The Porter is perfect for Garden Centres, Schools, colleges, Hospitals, Councils and agricultural / Equestrian areas. With many body options available to suit most needs, or we can make to your own specification and tailor the body to suit the job you require.
The Porter has full Ackerman steering giving maximum stability when loaded. Control is by a tiller with an IP rated Curtis Tiller head. The tiller head has a thumb control for forward or reverse and can be used from both sides and is also fitted with a speed switch (Hi /Lo) anti-crush button, warning horn, ignition switch (with key) and battery state of charge meter.
The Porter has one of the longest ranges in its class with two high capacity 150 a/h trojan batteries, giving up to 20 Km on a full charge. Supplied with a high quality Curtis Realto charger which is fully automatic and just requires plugging in to a single phase 240v 3 pin socket
Braking and parking are also fully automatic the Porter has two electromagnetic brakes fitted, one on each motor so each wheel has its own parking brake for extra safety. Braking is simply done by reducing the throttle impute or letting go of the throttle.
The Curtis control has full regenerative braking, when the pedestrian controlled vehicle comes to a stop the parking brakes will automatically apply. In an emergency when there is a need to stop faster this can be achieved by rotating the throttle fully in the opposite direction of travel and the vehicle will stop in a much more aggressive manner.
The Porter is also fitted with a emergency battery isolation switch which is located on the front of the truck behind the steering tiller. This can be used for isolating power to the vehicle when maintenance is being carried out, or if there is a problem with the vehicle and a need to stop it quickly.
